Paromita Sengupta is a writer and translator based in Kolkata. She writes for both children and adults, with work spanning children’s non-fiction, fiction and essays. Her first book, Ratan Tata: The Amazing Tata Adventures, was published by Scholastic India in 2026. Her fiction and essays have appeared in The Punch Magazine, Muse India and Kitaab (forthcoming).

As a translator, she works primarily between Bengali and English. Her translations include the children’s book A Home of Our Own, published by Tulika Books, and the short story “Only a Home,” which appeared in The Year’s Best: Collection of Bengali Short Stories 2025. She also volunteers as a translator of children’s picture books for Pratham Books’ StoryWeaver.

Paromita holds an M.Phil. in English Literature and a DELF B2 qualification in French. Outside writing and translation, she works in online learning and education. In her free time, she likes to read and travel.
